Q. What is a domain name and what is hosting?

The hosted site itself is not much good because it has no name associated with it; you need also to rent a domain name such as shapinsay-accommodation.co.uk which acts as an address for your website.

So, you pay for one or more names  and also some computer space – you will be paying each year for the names and the hosting.
